Lorenzo Insigne - NapoliNapoli forward Lorenzo Insigne’s agent has insisted that Napoli have always reaffirmed their desire to keep his client at the club.

The 22-year-old Neapolitan enjoyed somewhat of a breakout season last year under now Inter coach Walter Mazzari after spending the 2011/12 season on loan at Pescara.

Speaking to radio Mana Mana Sport, Fabio Andreotti moved to deny rumours that the Frattamaggiore native could be leaving his hometown club in the near future after rumours linking him with Fiorentina.

“Lorenzo has been sought after by several clubs, not only in Italy but also abroad, with some English teams coming forward for him” he said.

“Napoli have always showed a willingness for him to stay because it is also the will of the player, he wants to remain here and do well.

“I have never had contact with Fiorentina; they are an important team, but he won’t be going to Florence, or anywhere else for that matter.”

His agent was also clear as to the role Insigne would like to have in Rafa Benitez’s new-look Napoli side.

“We hope that the development of last year can bear some fruit in the coming season.

“Lorenzo is firmly in Benitez’s plans and wants to play predominantly on the left behind a lone striker.”

Andreotti, who is also agent to Lorenzo’s younger brother Roberto Insigne, had some words regarding the 19-year-old Perugia loanee and stated it is inevitable that the two siblings will eventually play together for their boyhood club.

“He is destined for great things, therefore we want him to grow slowly, and well” he said.

“With the Perugia shirt he can do well and learn a lot from a person of experience like Cristiano Lucarelli.

“Roberto and Lorenzo are brothers from the city of Napoli, therefore one day they will play together with the shirt of Napoli.”

Older brother Lorenzo, who managed five goals in 37 appearances for the Partenopei last season, will be joined in attack by Argentine Gonzalo Higuain who was signed recently from Real Madrid in a €37 million deal.
