Catania have officially signed full-back Gino Peruzzi from Argentine club Velez Sarsfield.
The 21-year-old had been linked with move to Inter and Sunderland in the past, but the Elefanti have won the race to secure his signature.
The Corral de Bustos native was only a medical away from joining the Black Cats last month, but a deal fell through due to the English side’s doubts over the condition of his knee after a major injury last year.
While no fee was revealed on the official Catania website, it is being reported that the Argentine will cost the Elefanti in the region of €4 million.
Peruzzi was part of the Velez side that won the Argentine Primera Division Inicial in 2012 and made 34 appearances during his three years at the club.
