Cristian Chivu InterCristian Chivu has shrugged off Inter’s poor performances and lack of results in their pre-season friendlies thus far, stating the Nerazzurri are more focused on improving their physical form.

The Nerazzurri have put up a string of poor performances under new boss Walter Mazzarri after being dispatched 4-0 by Valencia on Sunday, which came a few days after losing to Chelsea.

“At this stage of the season you prioritise the workload over being fresh and perhaps having a better chance of getting a result,” Chivu stated on the club’s website.

“That’s precisely why the results of pre-season friendlies mean very little, especially as we’re playing against great teams, some of which are further ahead with their preparation than we are.”

“We’re concentrating on taking on board the coach’s methods and instructions and I’m sure we’ll see our work bear fruit when the points start to matter,

“Mazzarri is very experienced and very scrupulous.

“We’ll soon be back to where we deserve to be, challenging for the top positions. In the meantime we’re trying to make the most of the pre-season to get ourselves ready.”
