Stefano Colantuono - AtalantaAtalanta coach Stefano Colantuono has admitted that his squad must break down the Cagliari attack in their season debut on Sunday.

The Orobici will be heading to the Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste to take on the Isolani for their first match of the 2013-14 Serie A season and the club’s coach isn’t underestimating the opponents’ ability to put pressure on goal.

Colantuono spoke to Radio Dea about the match and recognised that the Rossoblu will not be an easy team to beat.

“It will be a tough debut,” said the tactician. “Cagliari come from good experience in Serie A.

“They are a club that I admire very much and they have important players.

“Cagliari have very dangerous attacking players. We should try to break down their strengths, including the speed of their attackers.

“Atalanta plan on playing the game the best we can to hopefully bring home the win.

“Apart from their attackers, we don’t forget about their captain [Daniele] Conti, who is sometimes mentioned very little, but is one of the best midfielders in Italy in my opinion.

“We also can’t forget about [Radja] Nainggolan, [Albin] Ekdal, and [Daniele] Dessena.

“In short, they are a tough group that always goes the distance of every season. They always have the right values and carve out their own salvation.”
