Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle has revealed that coach Vincenzo Montella has renewed his contract with the club.
The 39-year-old tactician became the Viola boss last summer after signing a two-year contract with the team and ended up leading them to a fourth place finish in Serie A last season, only a couple of points away from landing the side a spot in the Champions League.
Della Valle spoke during a Fiorentina presentation at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Tuesday and announced the coach’s renewal, as well as the team’s goal for the year.
“It was only right to make this presentation because you have to understand that this is Fiorentina,” said the businessman, who co-owns the club with his brother Diego Della Valle.
“We will try to keep you entertained just as we did last year.
“This evening there is a European match and we deserve to be there too.
“Now, I must give you some good news. The coach has renewed his contract and will stay with us for several more years.
“We must have this charge throughout the whole year.”
