Former Napoli and Catania goalkeeper Gennaro Iezzo tipped his old side, the Partenopei, to seriously challenge Juventus this season.
Speaking to Itasportpress.it, the 40-year-old gave his opinion on his former clubs.
“Napoli has replaced a great goalkeeper in Morgan De Sanctis. Reina is a goalkeeper with international experience and will be useful in the cup competitions,” Iezzo said.
“This Napoli team, with a few additions, can undermine Juventus for the Scudetto.
“Quagliarella would be a tremendous addition, and it would represent a great opportunity to mend his relationship with the fans as well as giving Benitez a bit of depth.
“I loved the applause the fans gave to Zuniga, who I think is one of the most important players for Napoli.”
When asked about his future, and if he was open to a return to the Partenopei, Iezzo remained ambiguous.
“My future at Napoli? It would be nice to return, but for now I think I will do well here at Juve Stabia.”
Finally, he commented on the goalkeepers at Catania, concerning current first-choice Mariano Andujar and his backup Alberto Frison.
“The Argentine is a great goalkeeper, but I think having Frison as the second is not a scandal.
“Maybe he will mature, and next year will resurface as the number one for Catania.”
