Despite the 4-1 win over Lazio, Juventus coach Antonio Conte felt the intensity from the midfield needed improving, despite two goals from Arturo Vidal and an assist from Paul Pogba.

Althouh expressing his pleasure over defeating a team that gave them problems last season, the Lecce-born tactician believed there were areas the team needed to work on.

“I am happy because today’s opponent was a tough one who had always made us struggle,” Conte said to Sky after the match.

“[It is] a victory that has given us belief but we must remember to never bring down our intensity.”

Conte acknowledged that after going two goals up early on, the midfield pressed less, allowing Lazio a way back into the match and eventually cutting the lead in half going into the break.

“At 2-0, when we scored the goal, we slowed down, in midfield we were no longer aggressive and Lazio took shots often from outside the area from the middle of the field.

“Today we did well, but we must still improve, the pressure from the midfielders at certain stages was not intense enough.”
