Alessandro Matri - JuventusNapoli are close to signing Juventus’ Italian international striker Alessandro Matri, with the Partenopei just waiting for a response from the player himself.

With Rafa Benitez at the helm, the port side club have been very active in this summer transfer market, and the Azzurri are still searching for a reliable centre-back and a backup striker for new forward signing Gonzalo Higuain.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Napoli have reached an agreement with the Bianconeri for the 29-year-old hit-man, and the only thing now missing is the ‘yes’ from Matri.

A 5 year contract worth €3 million a season is on the table for the Juve front-man, and this could be enough to convince him, even though as part of the deal he would have to hand over his image rights to the Naples-based side.

Italian international Matri, who turned 29 on Monday, has managed 29 goals in 84 appearances for the Old Lady since making the move from Cagliari in 2011.

  1. I don’t know why Juve would hand over Matri to their chief rival without getting anything but cash in return.

  2. Dominic Cullotta says:

It’s just a dumb move all around. Leaving Juve where he is a back up to be a back up at Napoli isn’t gonna help his career any. Juve just wants the cash to buy Karlov or Zuniga

  3. Daniel says:

Because juve need to offload strikers and Napoli gave a concrete offer for matri. We don’t want to lose him for nothing. At least were getting a good buck for him and possible a better relationship between the two clubs for future negotiations. Zuniga
