Gino Peruzzi Velez SarsfieldNapoli are hoping to snatch Velez Sarsfield right-back Gino Peruzzi from under the noses of Sunderland.

The Premier League side had almost signed the Argentine for €4 million but he failed a medical with the Black Cats a month ago.

Now, according to Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno, the Partenopei are hoping to make a last minute move for the 21-year-old.

Sunderland are also still keen to bring the player to England with Velez president Miguel Calello stating,”We have been talking to the people at the English club and on Wednesday we’re going to have a further meeting with the coaching staff.

“They are going to take a final decision to see if there is any change with respect to what they had said to us.”

Peruzzi failed his medical due to a knee injury and is thought to be about a month away from full fitness.
