Italy v Ireland - CassanoNew Parma signing Antonio Cassano could still play for the Azzurri insists Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.

The 31 year-old has not been selected in the squad since he  played in the Euro 2012 final and was a part of Prandelli’s plans between 2010 and 2012.

“We are constantly keeping Cassano under observation,” the Azzurri coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“He has to show his qualities and, above all, prove that he is calm.”

The Italian international will now ply his trade with Parma in 2013-2014 after leaving Inter after one season.

The Italian tactician was asked for his opinion on what he expects from Serie A this season.

“I’m curious to see Napoli, a club who have bought with intelligence this summer,” Prandelli commented.

“Juventus have an extraordinary coach in Antonio Conte and they have reinforced even further on the transfer market.

“Inter, meanwhile, can do well under Walter Mazzarri because he gets his teams to play good football and he always transmits character to his sides.”

Cassano has bagged 10 goals and has 35 caps for his country.
