James PallottaRoma president James Pallotta has stated that the Giallorossi’s transfer activity so far has been positive despite losing promising young centre-back Marquinhos to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 55-year-old reiterated that the Rome club had attempted to blend a mix of youth and experience whilst citing midfielder Kevin Strootman as their significant purchase of the summer.

After allowing goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg to join Premier League side Fulham the American confirmed that new coach Rudi Garcia was happy with his replacements Morgan De Sanctis from Napoli and also young Lukasz Skorupski.

“The balance between those who have taken over the loss of Marquinhos is positive,” Pallotta told Roma Channel.

“We purchased a mix of players of experience and youth, but I do not see any problem in our market [activity].

“If you look at the team, the defence is very strong and in midfield we have great players.

“Kevin Strootman is a great purchase, if the attackers are well on form [we could be] grouped among the stronger sides.

“I spoke with Rudi Garcia, he is also happy [with our] goalkeeping [additions].”
