Marco Borriello GenoaReports in Italy suggest that the Genoa and Roma have resurrected negotiations for the exchange of Italian strikers Alberto Gilardino and Marco Boriello.

However, it was only Monday that news broke of the Grifone and coach Fabio Liverani deciding to make Italian international Gilardino central to their attacking plans this season as the two clubs looked unable to agree a deal.

The 31-year-old had started, and even scored, during their recent Coppa Italia elimination to Serie B side Spezia, yet according to Sky Sports 24 the Rossoblu are now attempting to secure the services of the man who spent the last campaign on loan at the Luigi Ferraris.

Roma striker Boriello, also 31, contributed 12 league goals in 28 matches during his second spell with Grifone as the club narrowly avoided relegation.

In contrast, Gilardino fared marginally better netting 13 times whilst on loan at Serie A rivals Bologna, although he appeared 36 times for the club.
