Marco RossiFormer Genoa midfielder Marco Rossi revealed that playing for the club was a dream and thanked the fans for their love.

The 35-year-old retired from his playing career this summer, after appearing for the club from 2004-13, and will now take up a job with the Grifone as a director.

Rossi spoke to Radio Nostalgia after a recent retirement party that was held for him this week and expressed his appreciation for all the support he’s received.

“It was an evening that I will carry inside forever,” said the former Genoa captain.

“Still thinking about it makes me shiver. Our fans are unique and they made me feel thrilled to be a former player of the club.”

He then conceded that the choice to retire wasn’t easy, although he now hopes to help the team from his new position.

“Retirement has been a tough decision especially because wearing the Rossoblu jersey was a dream come true, even more so after becoming captain.

“However, I now hope that I can continue to be useful to this team and these colours.”
