Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent has claimed that a move to scudetto challengers Napoli was very close to coming true.
The Italian international put pen to paper on a 4 year contract with English side Sunderland this summer after the football saw what he is capable of when he made a mark on the Confederations Cup.
The Sunderland’s representative has also said that he tried to null out a deal with the Neopolitan side so he can ply his trade with them.
“I proposed Giaccherini to Napoli,” Furio Valcareggi told Radio Kiss Kiss. “But [sporting director Riccardo] Bigon refused.
“All this dates back to before he signed for Juventus [from Siena].
“Emanuele decided to go to Juve, and everything changed.”
