Matej Vydra WatfordUdinese striker Matej Vydra will be joining Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on a loan deal for the upcoming season.

After a successful loan spell at Watford in the Championship last campaign, where he scored 20 goals in 41 games and was named Championship Player of the Year, the Czech international has been vocal on his desire to play in the Premier League next season.

Vydra joined Udinese back in 2010 from Banik Ostrava, but was sent straight on loan to Club Brugge where he only made one appearance for the Belgian side.

The following season he was sent on loan to Watford where he helped the club to reach the play-off final, something which made West Brom manager Steve Clarke very interested the youngster.

“He had a really good year with Watford and we believe he’s got the qualities to score goals at a higher level,” Clarke told the Baggies official website.

“We had Matej watched throughout last season. As well as some excellent scouting reports, we had some really good feedback from within Watford about Matej as both a player and person.

“I’ve said previously we’re a bit light in the forward areas and Matej will increase competition for places.

“He’s another good quality striker to add to the other three senior forwards we have here.”
