Inter’s Ricky Alvarez has claimed the he stayed with the Nerazzurri in order to show his true value to the club.

The 25-year-old Argentine international has endured two difficult years at Appiano Gentile, with managerial changes, injury problems, and his difficulty adapting to a physically more imposing league all contributing to his inconsistent form, which almost saw him depart the Giuseppe Meazza during the summer.

However, the former Velez Sarsfield playmaker seems to have turned over a new leaf under new coach Walter Mazzarri and has been a key part of the Beneamata’s positive start to the season, chipping in one goal in three appearances for the Milanese giants.

“I stayed here because I never got dispirited,” Alvarez told La Stampa.

“I want to demonstrate that I can do well with this shirt.”

Since joining Inter from Buenos Aires side Velez, Alvarez has scored 11 goals in 62 games for the Milan-based club.
