Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has reportedly targeted Lazio midfielder Hernanes as a possible January reinforcement.

Despite taking seven points from nine in their opening three fixtures and lifting the European Super Cup before the international break, Bayern bosses were unhappy with the 1-1 draw away to Freiburg in Week 3 as Guardiola fielded a weakened team for the encounter.

While Die Roten are currently sitting second in the table behind rivals Borussia Dortmund, they open their Champions League defence against CSKA Moscow next Tuesday and the club are hoping for improved performances as the fixtures begin to mount.

With the pressure building at the Allianz Arena infoticker.com reports that Guardiola is already looking to the transfer market for reinforcements, and sees the Biancocelesti’s Brazilian international Hernanes as the man to bolster his midfield.

The 28-year-old’s current deal at Lazio runs out in 2015, and whilst Lazio club president Claudio Lotito is desperate to see the attacking midfielder remain at the Stadio Olimpico, he has yet to sign a contract extension fuelling rumours of a move away from Rome.

Sao Paolo youth product Hernanes signed for the Aquile in 2010 and has gone on to score 38 goals in 135 appearances for the Coppa Italia champions.
