Torino collected their first away victory of the campaign by battling to a 2-1 win against Bologna at the Dall’Ara on Sunday afternoon in Serie A.

The same goalscorers who fired them to a draw against AC Milan last week, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Alessio Cerci, were the heroes again while Cesare Natali’s joy at equalising was blighted by a red card at half time.

It took just two minutes for a Toro side blighted by injuries in the attacking third to take the lead and when they did it was a defender who did so, D’Ambrosio on hand to pounce from a Matteo Darmian cross and open the scoring for his second strike in as many games.

The game did not have too many clear cut chances until the half hour mark when Bologna leveled after the Granata’s inability to defend set pieces caught up to them once more when Natali steered home an Alessandro Diamanti cross.

A sensational Cerci free kick from distance then rattled against the crossbar for Toro and when the ball broke back into the penalty area, the ensuing fracas saw a penalty awarded when Omar El Kaddouri was brought to ground by Francesco Della Rocca and Diamanti booked for his desperate protestations.

Undaunted by the controversy, Cerci himself stepped up and calmly dispatched the kick to put Toro back ahead heading into the half time break.

Perhaps due to his continued anger towards the referee about the award of that spot kick, Rossoblu goalscorer Natali saw red in the tunnel as the teams made their way off and Toro held on to their advantage in the second half to pick up a crucial three points, their first win on the road this season.
