Cristaldo BolognaBologna’s new forward signing Jonathan Cristaldo has said that he is delighted to be at the club.

The 24-year-old Argentine international joined the Rossblu on loan from Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv over the summer and got his first goal for his new side in a friendly against Triglav on Friday.

“I was anxious to play with this shirt and now I’m happy to have met my teammates, to have scored and won, even if it was only in a friendly,” Cristaldo told Sky Sport Italia.

“I really wanted to come here because I felt wanted by the club and the coach.

“This is an ambitious and important team and I believe that I can do well here.

“I already know [coach Stefano] Pioli’s tactics because I played against him for both Metalist [Kharkiv] and Velez [Sarsfield]”

The Velez youth product was also asked to explain the origins of his nickname.

“Churri? Since I was young they called me Churrasco (steak) because my grandfather wanted me to eat lots of meat so I would grow.

“Then, when I grew up I decided I didn’t like the nickname any more so I asked to be nicknamed Churri instead.”

Cristaldo moved to Metalist from Buenos Aires side Velez in 2011 and scored 21 in 85 appearances for the Ukrainians before his recent move to Bologna.
