Ibarbo and Nainggolan - CagliariThere will be a meeting in Cagliari this week to determine when the renovation of the Stadio Sant’Elia can begin.

According to ANSA, the region’s council and city superintendent will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss services needed to repair the Rossoblu’s home stadium.

It’s expected that city officials will decide on a start up date for repairs to the venue, thus starting the countdown until the Isolani can return to play there.

The Stadio Sant’Elia, which was first opened in 1970 following the club’s only Scudetto win, closed down in 2012 after it was deemed unsafe by the city’s mayor in the final weeks of the 2011-12 season, forcing Cagliari to play their remaining home games  at the Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste.

The Isolani played several matches at the Stadio Is Arenas at the start of the 2012-13 campaign, before once again returning to the Nereo Rocco last April. The club are expected to remain there until the Sant’Elia is fully repaired.
