Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis was left delighted after watching his Napoli side compete in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
The Azzurri defeated last year’s runners up Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at the Stadio San Paolo in their opening game of the competition. Goals from new summer signing Gonzalo Higuain and local favourite Lorenzo Insigne meant Napoli secured three points on the opening night.
“Last night against Borussia was one of the most beautiful evenings since I became Napoli president,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Thank you to everybody. Now let’s move on in the same way!”
After buying Napoli in 2004, the film producer has guided the club from Serie C to the Champions League.
Napoli are considered serious contenders for the Serie A title this season after strengthening the side considerably over the summer period.
