Lazio midfielder Hernanes believes that the club’s win against Legia Warsaw in the Europa League was important for the team’s morale ahead of this weekend’s Rome derby.
The 28-year-old scored the only goal of the match in the Biancocelesti’s 1-0 win over the Polish side on Thursday and he now feels more confident with the Serie A match against Roma coming on Sunday.
Hernanes spoke to Mediaset and insisted that he’s always improving as a player.
“We needed to win because we didn’t want to disappoint in the first match of the Europa League at home,” said the Brazilian international.
“I’m happy with the goal. We needed this win as a kick start for our morale ahead of the derby.
“When will I be in my optimum condition? You never know. You can always improve, I’m always growing.”
Lazio beat Roma in the Coppa Italia final last season and will be looking to continue their derby success this weekend.
