Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo will reportedly begin discussions to renew his contract with the club in February.

The 34-year-old has been dissatisfied with his role in Antonio Conte’s Bianconeri squad as of late and the stall in contract talks has lead to speculation he could leave the Old Lady in the summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio, market expert for Sky Sport Italia, spoke about Pirlo’s current situation at Juve and the threat posed by Paul Pogba as he looks to keep his spot in the squad.

“The discussions of a renewal with Juventus will take place in February-March, as already said by [Giuseppe] Marotta in recent days,” he said.

“Juve will introduce a plan where Pirlo will clearly not be the cornerstone for 60 games a year, but he will still have importance.

“Then, the player will decide whether to extend and continue the relationship or not.

“Let’s not forget that behind him there’s also a growing Pogba.”
