Group A 

Empoli thrashed as they rose to the top of the table while condemning the opposition to the bottom thanks to a 7-1 victory thanks to a truly incredible seven different goalscorers.

Juventus fell to a shock 2-1 defeat at Cesena courtesy of an early double from Thomas Pedrabissi as they continued their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Torino and also kept pace at the top as they drew 1-1 with each other, Mattia Aramu grabbing his third of the season with Denis Lamberti notching for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Bologna fell to a disappointing defeat away to Spezia while Parma did likewise and they remain on zero points having lost away to Sassuolo.

Modena won on the road by picking up an important win away to Genoa, Giuseppe Franco grabbing the winner with 20 minutes remaining, as Siena and played out a stalemate in Tuscany.

Group B

Cagliari and Brescia’s meeting in Group B was postponed meaning just six games were played and stunned AC Milan at home with a thrilling win.

Victor Da Silva hit his second brace of the season and was once more the key man despite Iacopo Cernigoi grabbing his fifth in two games for the Rossoneri.

Alessandro Capello InterHellas Verona moved to the top though with a 3-1 win against Udinese, Mattia Zaccagni scoring twice, while Atalanta won by the same scoreline to keep pace as they beat Pescara away from home.

Giacomo Parigi hit the opener and two followed from Mario Pugliese as they moved to second place in the standings at this early stage.

Cittadella were swept aside 3-0 at the hands of Inter in Milan with exciting prospect Alessandro Capello hitting his first goal for the Nerazzurri since arriving from Bologna.

Varese and Virtus Lanciano played out a 1-1 draw while Padova and Ternana’s meeting resulted in a 0-0 draw.

Group C

lost Primavera prospect turned first teamer Antonio Rozzi to Real Madrid Castilla but it did not deter them against Trapani as they emerged with a 3-1 win away from home.

Mamadou Tankara scored twice to help his side to that victory but went one better on the road to Fiorentina by coming out on top, 4-1 much to the delight of coach Alberto De Rossi.

Napoli were big winners too as they beat Crotone 4-2, Gennaro Tutino scored twice and Gerardo Rubino and Luca Palmiero also got on the score sheet.

Both Sicilian sides won 4-2 at home with a double from Carlos Embalo helping the Rosanero to victory against Bari while Latina fell to Catania, Bruno Petkovic scoring twice in that clash.

trounced Avellino 3-0 away from home, much of the damage being done thanks to two goals in the opening 20 minutes from Marco Condemi and Andrea Migliavacca.

A lone goal from Lorenzo Simonetti with 15 minutes remaining was enough to give Livorno all three points against Juve Stabia.
