Former Manchester City and Inter boss Roberto Mancini has been named the new coach of Galatasaray according to the Turkish giants.

The 48-year-old ex-Italy international had been out of work since he was sacked by City at the end of last season.

The announcement was made on Galatasaray’s website on Monday evening, stating that Mancini has signed a three-year contract with the Istanbul club.

He replaces Fatih Terim, who can now concentrate fully on his duties as Turkish national team coach. Curiously, Mancini also took over from Terim at Fiorentina in 2001.

Mancini’s first match in charge will be Galatasaray’s crucial Champions League match against Juventus on Wednesday evening.
