Sunderland are reportedly close to completing a deal for Napoli full-back Andrea Dossena.
It is reported that the Premier League side has held negotiations to sign the former Liverpool man on a year-long loan deal.
And, according to Sky Sport Italia, the player is on his way to Sunderland to complete a medical, though there may be complications with his fitness.
The 31-year-old Italian was set to sign for Torino on Friday after agreeing personal terms with the Turin side, but the move collapsed after Dossena failed to pass medical.
The injury was reported as a slight thigh problem and that required two to three weeks to heal, but Toro landed Giovanni Pasquale on loan from Udinese instead.
