Lazio coach Vladimir Petkovic spoke of his dissatisfaction with the errors his side made in the wake of their 4-1 loss to Juventus Saturday evening.

After claiming that the 4-0 defeat in the Italian Super Cup againt this same side was an aberration, the capital club were undone by a double from Arturo Vidal and goal from Mirko Vucinic and Carlos Tevez, and Petkovic noted his side cannot give clubs like Juventus opportunities to score as they did.

“We must examine the individual errors that were made,” Petkovic told Sky after the match. “Today we also had numerous chances to score but we did not convert them, and we gave them too much space to attack.”

Petkovic also believed his team defended too deep at times, stating: “They arrived too easily into the attacking third as we were too deep.

“We should have been at least 10 metres higher and put them in difficulty during their build-up play.”

Petkovic remained coy over growing speculation that Lazio were on the verge of signing striker Burak Yilmaz from Galatasaray, who would likely serve as deputy to tonight’s goalscorer Miroslav Klose.

“I think Yilmaz has a very important CV, he is strong and has played for the four most important sides in Turkey, but at the moment I am only thinking about the squad I have at my disposal after this defeat.”
