With first-choice goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic not expected to return from injury until January 2014 Udinese could be considering a shock move for out-of-contract former Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
After the 27-year-old Serbian international seriously damaged his left shoulder during pre-season the Zebrette decided to persist with summer signing Ivan Kelava despite failure to qualify for the Europa League.
However, after conceding a further three goals in their opening two league matches this season they appear to be reassessing their options.
The 31-year-old former Scotland number one has been suggested to the Serie A club, however, Tuttosport are reporting that owner Giampaolo Pozzo is still to be convinced.
Gordon himself was blighted by injury during his Premier League career but has remained fit during a self-enforced absence, however, he did spend the summer training with Scottish side Rangers and is now reportedly keen to resume his playing career.
