AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri expressed his satisfaction with his side’s performance after a 1-1 draw against Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday

Milan were able to draw level after Mario Balotelli converted a contentious penalty deep into stoppage time after conceding off a corner kick late in the match.

“We conceded little to Ajax,” Allegri said to Sky Sport Italia after the match. “After the break, it’s normal for the opponent to drop off.

“We were at risk of losing the match, for us we gained a precious point towards qualification.”

Milan’s performance in the first half looked poor, however, Allegri disparaged that notion, stating: “The first half wasn’t spectacular, but we did our homework.”

The Rossoneri’s next opponents in the Champions League are Barcelona on October 22.
