Sinisa Mihajlovic has stated that he wishes to return to Italian football when his spell as Serbia’s national team coach finishes.

Having been appointed in May 2012, Mihajlovic was unable to secure qualification for the 2014 World Cup Finals as Serbia finished third in qualification Group A behind Belgium and Croatia.

When I’m no longer the Serbia coach, whether that be in a month, two months or three, four or fives years’ time, I hope to work again in Italy,” he told FC Inter News.

“That is certainly my desire.

“Do I have a particular side in mind? I don’t know,

“The important thing is that I continue working,” he added.

The 44-year-old has spent most of his career in Italy playing for Roma, Sampdoria, Inter and Lazio.  He then went on to coach Bologna, Catania and Fiorentina.

He has been linked with the Sampdoria job lately as pressure continues to mount on current boss Delio Rossi.
