Former Italy and Republic of Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni has been linked with the Lazio coaching job.

The 74-year-old tactician, who has confirmed that he is set to return to coaching, has been touted as a potential replacement for under pressure Biancocelesti boss Vladimir Petkovic.

According to Sportmediaset.it, Trapattoni is on a shortlist of potential candidates who could replace the present boss should Aquile president Claudio Lotito think about a coaching change.

In addition to Trapattoni, former Biancocelesti coach Edy Reja and former players Sinisa Mihajlovic and Roberto Di Matteo could also be on Lotito’s shortlist.

Despite coming under increasing pressure of late, Petkovic has insisted that he is not fearful for his job ahead of Lazio’s Serie A clash with Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico.
