Juventus need to change their style of play according to defender Andrea Barzagli following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte’s side came from a goal behind after an error by Leonardo Bonucci to lead 2-1 courtesy of a penalty by Arturo Vidal and Fabio Quagliarella header.  But another error in the dying moments cost them the victory against their Turkish opponents led for the first time by new coach Roberto Mancini.

“It’s pretty obvious that we can no longer play our game,” Barzagli told Mediaset Premium.

“During these two years a lot of teams have changed the way they play and we need to slightly change our approach to be the Juve of the past.

“In Europe, though, everything is more complicated because we are facing strong sides who mostly try to play their own game.”

The Italian international was also quick to shoulder some of the responsibility for Galatasaray’s late equaliser.

“In all honesty, I’ll take a bit of the responsibility over the second goal,”

“With three minutes to go, I should have told the team to come back and defend. We can’t concede a goal when it is four against four – especially when it comes to the Champions League,” he added.
