Juventus pair on FIFA shortlists

Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has been shortlisted for the 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or, whilst coach Antonio Conte is in the running for the 2013 World Coach of the Year.

Pirlo helped the Old Lady win the Scudetto for the second year running and is the only Italian on the shortlist for World Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, Conte is on the list of 10 who hope to be named as World Coach of the Year.

National team head coaches and captains, as well as France Football magazine’s selected journalists will vote for the winners.

The top three are published in December with the winners announced on January 13, 2014.

Barcelona’s Lional Messi is the current holder of the Ballon d’Or and has held it for the past four years.
