Livorno coach Davide Nicola has criticised his side for being naive and has called upon his players to improve after falling 2-1 to Sampdoria.

Livorno fell to their third consecutive defeat on Sunday afternoon after conceding a penalty in the 96th minute to visitors Sampdoria in a competitive affair at the Stadio Armando Picchi.

“We were naive and we must accept the result because we know that we need to grow,” the 40-year-old coach told Rai Sport.

“The team is a fighting one and we have always sought to win.

“Did our strikers go missing? No, it is just a down turn in form.”

Livorno face struggling Bologna next as the Amaranto look to halt the slide toward the bottom of the Serie A standings.
