Sampdoria striker Nicola Pozzi admits his side must improve despite picking up their first win of the season after defeating Livorno 2-1 on the road.

The 27-year-old scored a penalty deep intp stoppage time on Sunday afternoon to earn the Blucerchiati their first three points in what has been a difficult start to the season.

“It was an important victory and these are three important points for us,” the former Empoli man told Sky Sport Italia directly after the game.

“We must try to take as many points as possible especially for our fans who are suffering with us.

“Livorno put us in a difficult situation but we must continue to work hard to fix a lot of things in our game.”

Next up for Delio Rossi’s men is a visit from Atalanta next Saturday as they look to build on their first win of the campaign.
