Both Real Madrid and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the performances of AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo.

The 28-year-old was recently named captain of the Rossoneri over the summer after the departure of veteran Massimo Ambrosini and has played a key role in the club’s starting line up since his arrival from Fiorentina in 2012, but an offer from an outside club as big as Madrid or United could possibly pull him away.

According to talkSPORT, rumours claim that Los Blancos coach Carlo Ancelotti has grown fond of the Italian international as of late, while The Red Devils are also thought to be keeping a watchful eye on him as well.

Montolivo’s current contract with AC Milan is set to expire in 2016, though things could change by the start of the January transfer window if a proper bid is made, especially if the Diavolo continue to struggle in their Serie A campaign they way they’ve been.
