Roma are reportedly interested in making a bid for Manchester City right-back Micah Richards in January.

In the last 18 months, the 24-year-old full-back has struggled injuries and has fallen behind Pablo Zapaleta in the City first team.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi are very keen on bringing the defender to Rome as Nicolas Burdisso is expected to leave and current right-back, Maicon, turns 33 next year.

After missing out on Adil Rami, Rudi Garcia is now targeting the explosive full-back as his main target. The youngster was offered a new deal to extend his eight-year stay at the Etihad in the summer, but has yet to make the final decision.

Manuel Pellegrini is thought to be open to listen to offers, though Roma may have competition as Newcastle United are also interested in Richards, who has made two appearances so far this season – including a start in the 3-1 loss against Bayern Munich.
