Sampdoria drew 2-2 against Torino at the Stadio Ferraris on Sunday afternoon in Serie A.

Gianluca Sansone opened the scoring in the first half for the Blucerchiati, before Nicola Pozzi had a goal controversially disallowed just before half-time. Ciro Immobile and Alessio Cerci scored in the second half for the Granata but substitute Eder scored with a penalty at the death to give the home side a point.

Torino forward Cerci had put the ball in the net in the opening minute of the game but referee Andrea Gervasoni had already blown the whistle for offside.

An Angelo Da Costa goal kick was flicked-on by Pozzi onto the path of Gianluca Sansone, who shot straight at Torino goalkeeper Daniele Padelli, forcing him into an easy save.

Both teams were on the attack but it was Doria who had more of the ball. Pedro Obiang tried his luck from distance and Padelli dived for the ball and caught it.

Davide Gavazzi attempted a cross-shot and Padelli was able to punch the ball away despite the number of bodies in the box.

Sansone put Doria 1-0 up after 41 minutes. Following a clearance from the defence, Pozzi flicked the ball onto the path of Sansone, who sprinted down the middle and put a powerful daisy cutter past Padelli.

Doria thought they doubled their lead just before half-time but the goal was controversially disallowed. Padelli saved Angelo Palombo’s free-kick then Pozzi slid-in to put the rebound into the net. However,  the forward was said to be in an offside position but the replays showed otherwise.

Sansone had the first chance of the second half, when his long-range shot deflected by a Torino defender over the bar for a corner. Unfortunately for Samp, nothing came of the resulting corner.

Cerci tried to bend a shot but the ball went straight into the back of Gavazzi and the ball went out for a corner, which was wasted.

Sampdoria centre-back Shkodran Mustafi went for a blistering solo run down the left-wing and after cutting-in, he took a shot in the box but it was blocked.

Ciro Immobile equalised for the Granata after 66 minutes. A corner came from the right and Obiang tried to head the ball away but instead it reached Immobile, who slid in at the far post.

Cerci nearly made it 2-1 for Torino. He ran onto a through-ball and he was one-on-one with Da Costa. Samp’s Brazilian keeper kept his cool and made a phenomenal save by putting the ball over the bar.

Torino wing-back Danilo D’Ambrosio made a mazy run into the box and he was tripped by Palombo. Cerci scored from the penalty spot to finally put the Granata 2-1 up and get his sixth goal of the season.

In stoppage time, Eder lost an aerial battle with Kamil Glik and Gervasoni gave a penalty. The Brazilian striker stepped-up and levelled the scores, earning the home side a point.
