Sampdoria coach Delio Rossi has reportedly been given three matches by club president Edoardo Garrone to save his job.

The Blucerchiati have had a disappointing start to the season, having only picked up three draws and four defeats from their first seven fixtures with an especially traumatic 3-0 loss to rivals Genoa in the Derby della Lanterna a notable low point.

Although the club has publically backed the former Fiorentina coach, Tuttosport reports that Garrone has issued Rossi with the ultimatum of reversing Samp’s fortunes within three games.

Rossi’s future at the Marassi appears even more uncertain following reports that Doria have begun compiling a shortlist of possible replacements for the 52-year-old tactician.

Former Genoa boss Davide Ballardini, former Lazio coach Edy Reja and former Sampdoria player and current Serbia head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic are thought to be the board’s preferred candidates.

Other names linked with the possibly soon to be vacant hot seat at the Ligurian side are former Chievo tactician Eugenio Corini and Giovanni Trapattoni following his departure from the Republic of Ireland job.
