Udinese defender Dusan Basta has admitted that he appreciates the fact that Inter are fond of him, but plans on staying with his current club for now.

The 29-year-old was expected to leave the Zebrette over the summer, with the Nerazzurri making their interest in him public, though he ultimately decided to stay in Udine for the time being.

Basta spoke to reporters recently and hinted that he could be open to a move away from Francesco Guidolin’s side come January.

“Inter are a great team,” said the Serbian international. “I have always appreciated their interest in me.

“It is never too late to join a big club like Inter, although at the moment I just want to do well for Udinese, at least until January.”

The defender has been with the Serie A side since 2008 when he joined from Red Star Belgrade.
