An autopsy performed on 14-year-old Matteo Roghi has failed to determine the teenager’s cause of death.

The youngster passed away on Sunday while playing in a youth football game in Abbadia San Salvatore, located on the border between Siena and Grosseto.

He fell to the ground after playing the entire first half but attempts to resuscitate the youngster were unsuccessful.

With the autopsy failing to provide a cause of death, further tests will be performed in order to try shed more light on the situation. Coroner Mario Gabrielli will now have 60 days to pass over his findings to the public minister of Siena.

Roghi’s classmates at the Foiano della Chiana school placed flowers all over his desk on Monday in order to remember their fallen friend.
