Luigi De Canio - Genoa

Catania coach Luigi De Canio feels that his team have the strength to save their season despite falling to yet another defeat on Saturday.

The Rossazzurri lost 2-1 to Napoli on Saturday evening with Lucas Castro scoring the lone goal for the visitors in reply to strikes from Jose Callejon and Marek Hamsik.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the tactician spoke about the game and his believe that the Elefanti still have a chance of avoiding relegation.

“The penalty claim? I trust what the referee saw,” said De Canio.

“Perhaps when reviewing it he could have given it, but I won’t harp on that.

“We lost against Juventus and Napoli, but played well in both cases. Tonight we responded and found the goal and we were in the game.

De Canio then spoke about the strength of his squad.

“I believe that the team as a whole is a good one, the main problem is that some players are out of condition and we are paying for this.

“We have the mental strength to get out of this situation, I see that these lads are made aware of this. Defeats do not help and a bit of discouragement is always there.

“These two losses could have gone in another direction, though.”
