Fulham goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has inisted he has no regrets in leaving Roma to join the English club.

The Giallorossi are currently top of Serie A and are undefeated so far this season, while the Cottagers sit in the Premier League relegation zone.

“Roma are a great team and certainly would have been nice to do better with Luis Enrique,” the Dutch international told the press.

“The first year went well, but in the second I was not sure of the place, then Fulham made a offer and I had no hesitation.

“I always wanted to play and England and I think English football is better than Italian football.

“I am fine at Fulham, with regard to our league position I don’t have a release clause in the event of relegation.”

Stekelenburg, having been injured on his debut for Fulham, has now returned to full fitness and is in the Dutch squad for the upcoming friendlies against Japan and Colombia.
