Napoli transfer target Javier Mascherano has stated now is not the time to discuss a contract renewal with Barcelona.
The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with Napoli since the arrival of Rafa Benitez as Coach.
Although the Argentine international was coy about discussing a new contract, he stated in a press conference on Thursday that he was happy with the Blaugrana.
“A renewal? It’s not the right time to talk about that sort of thing,” he said.
“I am very happy and have always said as much. I’ve been treated very well here.
“If the club let me know, then I will evaluate my options. But I will not make any decisions before that.”
Mascherano, who played under Benitez at Liverpool, has made 150 appearances for Barcelona since his arrival in August 2010.
