Micah Richards - Manchester CityManchester City defender Micah Richards has been added to the list of candidates for the Napoli defence as president Aurelio De Laurentiis looks to invest heavily in the squad during the winter transfer window.

The Partenopei supremo has set aside €50 million for new players in January after admitting that the San Paolo outfit must spend big in order to attract top names and keep up with Europe’s elite.

As a result transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, who spoke on the programme Football Clan on the Sport Uno channel, stated that the Azzurri are now closely following the England international, who is keen to secure a move away from Manchester in order to win a place in England’s World Cup squad.

The England international, who has also been paired with the Partenopei’s Serie A rivals Inter, has become somewhat of a fringe player at Eastlands as he has only featured for 161 minutes this campaign after returning from an injury riddle campaign last season.

Richards has eight goals in 238 appearances for the Manchester club since debuting for the side in 2006.
