MestoNapoli will be without fullback Giandomenico Mesto for four months after the Italian underwent knee surgery on Monday.

The 31-year-old limped off after only seven minutes during the Partenopei’s 2-1 victory over Catania and tests have confirmed that he suffered a serious ligament injury to the knee.

The club released a statement on their Twitter account stating that the veteran “underwent the successful reconstruction of his anterior cruciate ligament.”

The same message indicates that Mesto is expected to be out for the next four months, leaving the club with a problem at the fullback spot as Juan Camilo Zuniga is also out after undergoing keyhole surgery on his knee.

Mesto made eleven appearances for the Partenopei in all competitions this eason.
