Jackson Martinez PortoJackson Martinez has admitted that Porto turned down an approach from Napoli for his services in the summer transfer window.

After missing out on Martinez, Napoli reinforced their front line with Duvan Zapata from Estudiantes following the big money arrival of Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid.

“Last summer Napoli wanted me and they were quite insistent,” Martinez  told O Jogo.

“Porto, though, didn’t want to sell me and they made it clear that they wanted to keep me here.”

The 27-year-old signed for Porto from Jaguares de Chiapas in 2012 and has been prolific for the current Portuguese champions since his arrival.

He scored 31 goals in 40 appearances last season.  This season his good form has continued, he has plundered nine goals in fourteen games so far.
