Maicon – Roma

Brazil national team boss Felipe Scolari believes that Maicon has been reborn since his move to Roma.

The 32-year-old, who joined the Giallorossi from Manchester City on a free transfer over the summer, is becoming a key player in the squad’s defence and could very well be called up to the Brazil team for the World Cup if he stays on this path.

Scolari spoke to Sambafoot about the right back’s progress and admitted that he made the right choice by transferring to Roma.

“His decision to join the Giallorossi was excellent,” said the tactician.

“Now he’s showing his quality again and there’s a possibility that he can join us.

“At City he wasn’t playing regularly, but now at Roma he’s been reborn.”

Maicon has won a number of trophies with Brazil during his professional career, including two FIFA Confederations Cup titles and two Copa America titles, but is still chasing the dream of winning a World Cup with them.
