AC Milan midfielder Valter Birsa hopes the 3-0 win against Celtic in the Champions League will provide the catalyst for the Rossoneri as they look to put on a good performance against Catania.

The rout against the Hoops at Celtic Park marked the Rossoneri’s first away win of the season and Birsa hopes to make it two on the bounce when Milan head to Catania.

“We won an important game against Celtic and we needed to play a game like that to show that we can do well,” Birsa told Milan Channel.

“It was a decisive match and we won it.

“I expect that we’ll play against Catania like we played against Celtic. We have to keep on going like this. Things didn’t go our way against Genoa last week, but we played well.”

The Slovenian highlighted the need for players to give their utmost in every game.

“Rather than talking about formations, the important thing is that the players give 100 per cent when they’re on the pitch,” Birsa said.

“The team needs everyone working together. After that, results will come.”

Milan languish in the bottom half of the table with just over a third of the Serie A campaign played.
