Catania defender Pablo Alvarez is reportedly thinking of leaving the Elefanti in order to join West Ham United this winter.
The 29-year-old’s current contract with the Serie A side will expire at the end of the season and there have been no talks regarding a renewal so far, which could lead to his departure during the January transfer window if he receives a favourable offer.
According to gianlucadimarzio.com the Argentine has been a target of West Ham for some time now, with other Italian clubs looking to sign him as well if he fails to land a new deal with Catania.
Alvarez has been with the Elefanti since joining from Argentinian club Estudiantes in 2008 and has twice left on loan to Rosario Central in 2009 and Zaragoza in 2012. He’s yet to score a goal in his 107 total Serie A appearances for the club thus far.
